FLAMENCO SEMINAR OF SILVIA DURAN

She is one of the important representatives of the old "Cafe de Chinitas" in Madrid.

Since the 10th of this month, the Cultural Association of the Dance "La Argentinita"
had the honour of receiving in its home and studio Silvia Duran, one of the greatest
representatives of the old "Cafe de Chinitas" of Madrid.

During her stay in the town, Silvia Duran gave a Flamenco Seminar in which she
taught the Old Alegrias of "La Quica" - Silvia being the last pupil of this Legend
of the Dance.

The Seminar ends on the 16th with a lecture in the Red Room of the Municipality
at 8 p.m.

Silvia Duran, born in South Africa, resident in Tel-Aviv, Israel, where she has
her Spanish Dance School, was formed by the best teachers, working with the
great Antonio, Victoria Eugenia - former Director of the National Ballet, Cristina
Hoyos, Juanjo Linares, Manolo Marin, Manolete among other Flamenco greats.

In her career she has received numerous accolades, among them First Prize of
Spanish Dance.  In 1986 she received the Plaque of the Spanish Embassy in
Israel in recognition of her artistic work and spreading of Spanish Culture.

In 1993 she was presented to the King and Queen of Spain and in this same
year was chosen as Representative of Spanish Culture in Israel by the Cervantes
Institute.

This has been a wonderful opportunity to enjoy working with a star of the
Flamenco dance to all those who took part in the Seminar this week.
