TRIBUTE TO SILVIA DURAN FOR HER 30 YEARS OF FLAMENCO

By Chiquita Levov

The well known dancer and choreographer with her intense and continuous labour
was the one who imposed the flamenco on local stages and in addition formed the
best dancers in the country.

On stage will be presented the most select of local flamenco to pay tribute to Duran
who came to Israel from South Africa as a Zionist, after having dedicated herself
artistically to this dance form in Spain.

She brought with her from Spain the authentic flamenco which demands great
knowledge of the Spanish culture , true dedication and great talent.

She also dedicated herself to teaching and choreography; teaching in her school
in which many Israeli dancers who now have international status were formed and,
without a doubt, were nourished by her extensive and precise knowledge.  Among
them we can name Neta Sheyzaf, Michal Natan, Carmel Natan, Ornili Azulai and
many others.

The artistic programme for the performance will include dancers of the Duran
Company and the guest artists Ornili Azulai and Michal Natan, together with the
singer David Broza who will offer a number of his songs, and another great
guitarist, Baldi Olier, will recall memorable moments with Silvia.

On July 28th in Suzanne Dellal , Newe Tzedek Tel Aviv, July 31st at Inbal,
and August 1st at Heichal Hatarbut Carmiel within the framework of the Carmiel
International Festival of Dance.
