MANOLO MARIN WITH SILVIA DURAN |
|
Translation HABAMA - July 21st 2004
MANOLO MARIN, ONE OF THE GREATEST FLAMENCO DANCERS, WILL COME TO ISRAEL FOR A SPECIAL PERFORMANCE WITH THE "HIGH PRIESTESS" OF FLAMENCO SILVIA DURAN.
The performance will take place on Saturday 24th July at 9 p.m. at the Givatayim Theatre.
The idea of the performance came into being when Duran, the pioneer of Spanish dance in Israel, met the legendary Manolo Marin in Spain when she was there for the production of "Carmen" at the Teatro Real Madrid. These two artists who both have successful careers of many years behind them, decided to create a performance for the two of them, original and one time only - the name of the performance "SOLERA"
The name of the performance is taken from the vintage Spanish wine which stands for many years in order to receive its special taste and aroma, similar to Flamenco.
The performance includes traditional flamenco pieces, solos and duets which will join the classical music, Jewish music to the strains of Duran's castanets, and other instrumental numbers.
Manolo Marin participated in performances and productions like: "Azabache"' "De la Luna al Viento" and created choreography for great artists like Cristina Hoyos for the film "Montoyas y Tarantos" and the performance "Suenos Flamencos" and many others.
Duran participated in giant productions in Israel and the world (principally Spain) for example: "Carmen"; "Marriage of Figaro". She performed at the "Cafe de Chinitas" and the "Teatro Real". During the past 20 years she directs the Silvia Duran Flamenco Company among whose graduates are Neta Sheyzaf, Michal Natan, Sharon Sultan etc. Accompaniment in the performance by Alexander Ivanov on the piano and Pavel Levin on the violin; the 3 dancers being from the Silvia Duran Flamenco Company.
The performance is in collaboration with the Adi Foundation, the Spanish Embassy and the Cervantes Institute.
